Death Valley by Tesla
The lowest, hottest and driest place in North America, and at night one of the darkest. Death Valley takes more charging thought than any other park on these routes, and far less than the forums claim.

Badwater, dunes & Artist’s Palette
Badwater Basin is 282 feet below sea level and the salt crust crunches when you walk on it. Add the Mesquite Flat dunes at sunset, Artists Drive in the afternoon light, and Zabriskie Point at sunrise. One full day covers the highlights.
Charging strategy & season
This is the one park where the plan matters. **The nearest fast charger is Beatty, Nevada, about 43 miles from Furnace Creek.** Not Las Vegas, despite what you will read. In-park charging at Furnace Creek and The Oasis is Level 2 only, which means overnight, not a top-up. Full details in [Death Valley in an EV](/journal/death-valley-elektrisch/).
